However, we can blow vigor into our work focusing on quality and taking our time to produce an excellent work. When this happens, publication becomes an indicator of how our grit and meticulous research design finally brought us to the intended destination.

One has to be extremely creative managing funding sources (or lack thereof), selectively choosing topics for research, finding support and going forward with it.

Fear can have positive or negative effects on the joy of undertaking research.

Fear of failure can affect joy negatively, but it can also have a positive effect if it leads to undertaking more risky, exciting, productive, satisfying and enjoyable research.

Research is intended to be challenging and difficult, otherwise everyone would be doing it.

Fear and negativity should not affect the potential joy in discovering novel ideas, thoughts and innovative intellectual property, in general.
