Industrial waste with low pH (1-2) and high COD (4000 ppm) was neutralized with lime and its pH reaches to 9...is this treatment effects on COD level too?
pH adjustment does not affect the COD value unless oxidation, adsorption, co-precipitation or other reactions occur during or after pH adjustment. Check whether there is precipitate formed during the process. If yes, there might be some impact on the COD value, but usually the impact is not significant.
Note: the mechanism for the removal of COD by coagulation is co-precipitation and/adsorption.
