As far as i understand, CEC represents the quantitative value of total cations that can be stored in the soil.
1) If in a case that i got a value of 3.10 cmol/kg for potassium exchange capacity in a soil sample, does that mean that there is 3.10 cmol/kg of potassium available in the soil for plant uptake?
2) If in a case that i test for potassium exchange capacity (KEC) in May and July where there was no input of any kind of potassium fertilizer, the value for KEC should be less in July? If it is reduced, is there any factors that can cause the reduction of potassium besides being uptake by plants?
Please advise, thank you.
