We use APTES for silanization of glass surface. We observed that 4% APTES prepared in acetone turns yellow within 24hours. But the new batch of APTES (Sigma) in acetone is not turning yellow with time. What could be the reason for this? Does it happen under specific conditions?
Most likely, just a contamination. 4% is too high concentration, try to use 1%. Don't store the solution, the best way for APTES is "dissolve and use it right now". It is little surprising, but a water solution (1%) works even better.
