1) is cell-cultured media recyclable?
2) has anyone recycled media?
3) if yes, what is the process

Cell culture media cannot be recycled except conditioned media and that to with proper dilutions.
Cell culture media contains nutrients like minerals and vitamins in addition to certain proteins present in FBS (Fetal Bovine Serum) like growth factors, adherent proteins which are necessary for the growth of cells in culture.
During growth, the cells utilize the nutrients in the medium and in turn secrete metabolic wastes into the medium.
Certain cells also secrete important proteins like cytokines or any other soluble factors that are essential either for the growth or stimulation of other cells. In this case this medium can be referred to as the conditioned medium and can be recycled with further dilution depending on the experimental conditions.
Phenol red is generally present in the cell culture medium which turns yellow after a few days in culture indicating that the medium is unsuitable to be recycled as it only contains metabolic wastes.
