I'm trying to calculate an MOI for an experiment between Salmonella and mammalian cells but I want to know how to calculate the amount of cells/mL in my Salmonella culture using OD600. I have done this in the past with E-coli using a general rule that an OD600 of 1 correlates to ~8x10^8 cells/mL. Is this the same for Salmonella? Thanks. :)

Dear,
you can make decimal dilutions then carry out a culture in a dish if you want to know the number of viable cells. But if you only want to know the cell load you can use the Macfarlane scale according to turbidity then can do a simple rule of three.
