Phil Geis We have been working with them and their recommendation was to rule out the initial lot with a comparison study with a newer previously unused lot, and we're still seeing the same failures in both.
your strain grows correctly on XLD? Is Lactose negative ? It‘s quite strange a problem like this.
Think you can't use their medium at all.
Clearly they are not satisfying growth promotion qualification in your lab. Bio-Rad's response was pretty lame - "rule out" poor results by testing another batch? Did they share their qualifcation data for the batch that did't work in your lab? Did they test its retains? They're blowing you off.
Be aware this is a medical device. Labs are using this to diagnose disease. Unless Bio-Rad resolves your concern, you should report this to the FDA.

This is a recall by Remel based on failure of their microbiological medium to achieve excepted results. Again - Bio-Rad's produict is also a medical device used to diagnose disease. Your results indicate a problem and they're blowing it off. Suggest you file a complaint the FDA. They can detyermine if this is serious.
