I'm trying to coat a PVDF membrane with carboxylic acid functionalized MWCNTs. There appears to be some attachment, which according to the literature is likely to due to PVDF H or F interaction with CNT pi electrons. But I need a stronger bond! Any help would be much appreciated.
you activate the the carboxylic group by the thionyl chloride in inert atmosphere and then reaction proceed by your desired compounds for covalent functionalization. I hope my answer is helpful for you. Thanking you
Thank you Gopal, I will try this. Hopefully the CNT-COCl will be reactive enough to interact with the PVDF.
Erhan, there is none. It would be ideal if there were hydroxyl groups! I'm looking into whether there are PVDF only (non-composite) membranes with this kind of functionality.
