Does anyone know if there is a protocol for extracting DNA from seagrass Posidonia balls stranded on beaches?

I would be interested to characterise genetically the Posidonia balls (fibers of Posidonia oceanica seagrass) commonly found on beaches of my region (northern Tuscany, Italy, Western Mediterranean). I wonder if someone worked on genomic DNA extraction from Posidonia balls stranded on the beach. I could not find anithing in scientific literature.
