We would need a device with a container large enough to collect the whole urine and tough enough to withstand the flow strength... and preferably commercially available. Thanks
I have found 3 papers describing urine total urine collection apparatuses. I assume that you may be able to contact the authors and find the devices for purchase.

We used to collect only fraction of the urine for sampling. it was done in the old fashion with a bucket and waiting early in the morning after thei stand up (this was done at pasture). We keept the cows in the parlour for an hour or so to collect the most of them. You can catch 70% of the cows if you have a big group of helpers (you need to be close enough to the cow to catch the urine). We repeated the technique in the following mornint co catch the urine of those cows we didnt get in the first morning. I hope this help you. I think the best way to collect urine sample is Folley's catheters. But you have to modify with urine collection apparatus that you change in day. Neverthless I dont know the exact size of folley's catheter for cows...
The reply from Jennifer Bellaw is complete regarding urine collection from cows. My question is, You want total urine per day basis or you need a sample at a particular time for some biochemical analysis occasionally?
For most metabolic study one need to collect total urine and the devices which is given by the published literature is very good. Some time people use Folley's catheter for this. It should be very gentle otherwise animals get internal injury during fixing the catheter.
We are collecting urine from animals for pregnancy diagnosis. In the morning securing a animal in a chute and giving a perineal massage you can collect samples from animals without any problem. I am giving the link for details for this.

Based on my field experience, the best way for collecting urine from animal is just go for per-rectum examination and slightly massage the bladder, you will can get liters of urine freshly, For this you need to get some veterinary doctor help.
