Solid samples are usually used during identification of beta-glucan. Are there any liquid sample used to identify the beta glucan. Any examples ? Thank you very much.
Beta glucans comprise glucose would require a refractive index detector. Glucose sub-units absorb little UV rendering UV detection less sensitive. Futhermore, as it is a polymer, GC is ruled out.
Did you extract B-glucan by yourself? If you did/will do the extraction from a nature source, better extract in suitable buffer solutions to allow complete dissolving B-glucan. From my knowledge B-glucan can be found abundantly in plants/fungi - mushrooms, barley or wheat and rye.
