I have a 20% chlorhexidine digluconate solution (in water) which I want to dilute using TSB or RPMI medium, however, whatever I tried, there is always precipitation. I tried adjusting the pH of the medium, adding salts, reducing salts, using DMSO and I pre-diluted the stock solution with ddH2O as well as the medium (1:2 with ddH2O and more).
Any ideas on why it doesn't work or what I could try would be highly appreciated!

Precipitation is due (1) high initial chlorhexidine concentration and mostly due (2) presence of chloride anions of the medium that contacts this high concentration. One possible approach can be... using mediums with no chloride at all (using carbonate salts for example). Or/and adding a policarboxilic acid in the chlorhexidine solution before dilution to act as stabilizer (and prevent precipitation).
