I am working on exploration of hidden microbial diversity using shotgun sequencing approach.
I need to analyze my data using PAST.
I installed PAST in my PC drive, I read the manual also, but I'm still facing problem for transfer MG-RAST tsv. file from excel into PAST. Help me.

Well, I always have transfered Excel sheets into PAST without problems merely using Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V. I particularly don't know how MG-RAST tsv files looks like, because I don't work with this kind of analysis, so that is my question: do you put the information you need in an ordinary Excel sheet, I mean, rows and columnsl or the arrangement of data is different from that?

I am not sure what problem you are facing. However, assuming that the .tsv format is not supported, from Excel you can save as .xls or .csv for the same data. PAST reads both of these quite well in my experience if you set your data up appropriately. For more than that I would need a description of the problem.
Yes i agree with the above. Just open your MG-rast file with excel, save it into an .xl file then copy paste eveything into PAST. Sometimes, PAST does not recognize shortcuts, so you will probably need to go into edit>paste. Also check if PAST has a limit in column and line numbers. What do you need to do on PAST that is not already provided by MG-RAST?
PAST.exe (windows version, E.g. 2.17) does not face any issue regarding pasting from Excel...
However, concerning PAST.dmg (e.g. version 3.14 on mac), I have never been able to paste multiple columns => The question remains !!

Simply don't paste. Save the file from excel in .csv and PAST will read it without trouble. I personally manage to paste from excel or numbers on the mac, but I have never been able to identify why it fails on some machines/OS versions. It really doesn't take any time to export to a fixed file and is more stable to do so. But, up to you!
