Most amino acids are encoded by more than one genetic codon; for example Alanine amino acid is encoded by four genetic codons (GCA, GCT, GCC and GCG).

The question is; If you are cloning a protein and decided to change the naturally-occurring codon with another one that gives the same amino acid (e.g GCT instead of GCA), do this substitution has an impact on the translated protein?

Thanks in advance
