I have notified by a new citation at my profile on some other exploring web pages, however it takes time to appear on my Google scholar profile. I am wondering if you have ideas to get updated very soon on Google scholar and Scopus.
The good practice is to check your scholar profile regularly and to make sure that all your publications and works are listed in your profile. Google citation does work differently compare to Scopus or Web of Science, such that it shows citations of all papers, including yours as well. Scopus and WoS only show citations in papers written by other authors and published in Schopus or WoS registered Journals. Note, there are quite a few cases where citations may be result of colleague to colleague personal request, which may not always add to rigor and quality of the publication.
A good response from Eduard. At the end of the day - you can't get Google Scholar notifications to come to you any sooner than their normal process. It's the same with Scopus etc. Of course , you have to be registered with them to receive the notifications in the first place.
Very much practical query indeed. Eduard has really elaborated about this. I have additional question. Is google scholar the only one and authentic source to know about citations?
Eduard- You touched the truth, as I found a new citation of my research paper on Scopus, while until now it doesn’t appear on my Google scholar profile. What can I do to accelerate this citation alert?
You need to register with academic profiles and platforms like Google Scholar, Elsevier and Researchgate. Once they have your e-mail address, they will be notifying you when your publications are cited. They deserve commendation in helping us keep track with what happened to our publications.
Register in as many research cites as possible, like: Scopus, RG, Academia, WoS (institutional)....etc. You'll get the shortest time for citation alerts.
