I'm attempting to clean an FPLC with 1M NaOH to remove protein residue that has built up. I normally just flush the machine with filtered and degassed 20% EtOH and H2O. The last time I tried to filter NaOH in a .22 micron filter, it ate through the filter membrane. My biggest worry with not filtering the solution is that it may clog the FPLC, since there are some particles in the solution from the DI water.
Is there a different method I can use to filter the solution, or should I just leave it as is and run the FPLC?
