If hip damages severely by arthritis, a fracture, or other conditions, hip replacement is needed to relieve pain and increase motion.
Its more common in elderly , however the risk of problems after surgery increases because of their weaknesses and age . Most of them are forbidden from such aggressive treatment and implantation .
So whats solution ? can the risk of surgery be managed?
Or a substitute treatment is required ?
Is stem cell infusion as effective as surgery ?
As of now severely damaged joint, with cartilage damage and clinical symptom leading to loss of activities of daily living, require joint replacement as the most successful treatment for it. Recent times and improved medical science have seen successful cases in extreme of age and comorbidity.
Till now , Cedric is not rocksolid in favour of adjuvant therapy like stem cells etc in damaged joint as cartilage damage has not seen significant breakthrough .
Future however looks bright with advantages if newer researches.
No I do not think that stem cells can resolve this problem,you can not simply inject stem cells into the hip region and hopping they will fix the problem, stem cell therapy has long way to go.

That is an excellent question. I can answer stem cell therapy part.
Stem cells injections into knee or hip will never ever treat osteoarthritis. The reason is that stem cells are entering in a medium called synovial fluid in which stem cells will not survive. Stem cells in vitro need a special medium to survive or in nature they are located in proper environment in niches.
I injected mesenchymal stem cells into knee after inducing osteoarthritis in rats, it damaged the knee more. So no help from stem cells. Those papers claiming benefit of stem cells in this regards are simply fraudulent papers, i challenge them, They need to talk to me.
On the other hand, I made cartilage from stem cells and transplanted cartilage in rat knee after removing some original cartilage, it seems to be help (please see my poster on ResearchGate). But how you can do that in human surgically, it will take another 10-20 years to get approved when fine techniques will be developed to implant in vitro made cartilage in human osteoarthritic knee or hip. What about arthritis in fingers and other joints. This aging process, we have to deal with.
Advances in Pre and post operative optimisation of patient and overall bone health and rehab part should play good role in making most patients lead optimal outcome and should be the focus than stem cells as of now.
