i used boronic acid in my reaction, after the reaction I make directly recrystallized the reaction by using ethanol, and get the compound ( which is not analysed yet). is it possible to contain boronic acid? did i need the extraction? ( i check by tlc which show one spot from the product)
Hi, by recrystalization alone, you can not be sure your compound is pure. Neither by TLC.
It still can be a mixture or contain impurities.
You will need to use other analytical methods such as GC, LC, FTIR, NMR and such.

Hi Rashinikumar Samandram, in general, recrystallization is a good way of purifying a compound. TLC might give you some hint that the compound is pure, but it's not a proof. If your compound is a known compound, you should run IR and NMR spectra and compare the data with the literature data. You could also determine the melting point and compare it with the literature value.
