Hi, I've being using ANSYS mechanical 18.2(direct and iterative solver) in windows 7 without any issue.
Recently I upgraded to a better performing(more cores and with more RAM) workstation which has windows 10. When I try to do the same simulation which I perfectly ran on the previous PC, the computer all of a sudden restarts when only using "direct" solver.
Have any one faced this issue? If so is there solution for this issue?

Would you please confirm whether the computer restarts or the analysis stop working. Because starting version 19.0 you can run ansys on 4 cores w/o any problem. However, on your version you can only use 2 cores.
By the way, having error on this setting won't result in restarting computer. The only thing that can happen is that the analysis won't be completed. If that is the case let me know and I will show you how to adjust the number of cores on Mechanical for avoiding this problem.
If the case is restarting the computer, then I have no idea what is wrong since I had no problem like this in the past number of years I'm working with Ansys.

I also faced similar situation, tried several times but didn't find any solution. So re-installed Windows 7. I might be wrong, but I feel Windows 7 is much stable compared to Windows 10.

Thank you all for taking your time to your reply for this question. I've been testing regarding this in the past few days. Below I will share my findings.
Due to the high number of elements, the simulation runs in out of core memory mode. At the start of the simulation right after the solver calculates the required number of Ram for the simulation temporary files are created with large capacity around 400 GB.
Running the simulation in Windows 10
The computer restarts at the moment the temporary files are created.
Running the simulation in Windows 7
The computer does not restarts but it stays unresponsive.
Due to this reason, now I'm running the simulation in with reduced element count and using the iterative solver.
