Do you know if exists some paper or note which compares UHPLC instruments from different vendors? I would like to get a comparison of major UHPLC instruments: Agilent Infinity, Waters Acquity, Shimadzu Nexera X2, Dionex Ultimate 3000. I need to buy a UHPLC instrument for connection with QToF (Bruker) and I am looking for a compromise between price and performance. Thanks

we are using both the Agilent and Waters systems mentioned by you. Both systems have advantages as well as disadvantages. Agilent's hardware is an advantage. Everything is more accessible compared to Waters. Exchange several columns in an Acquity column oven, then you know what I mean. Waters has overstepped the mark and sacrificed everything for the goal of the lowest possible dead volume (at the expense of practicability). Software is more an advantage at Waters. We use MassLynx and this has been in use for high throughput analysis (>2000 analyses per week) for years. The software at Agilent (Chemstation) can still be optimized. I don't have any experience with Shimadzu and Dionex now, but I think the UPLC manufacturers are all pretty much the same (in terms of price and hardware/software). Nobody can afford to be worse than the competition. Can you tell me something about the type and number of your analyses? This may have an influence on the choice of columns and software. I got to know the Bruker software a few years ago. I liked the open architecture (you can integrate many third-party vendors). What I didn't like was the reporting. The software created a report for each analysis. That's not an option for high throughput. That's why we decided against Bruker and for Agilent (TOF with 1260 HPLC and MassHunter as software). I'm using Nexera X2 coupled with Sciex 6500+. The software is so easy to use. This model is equipped with Ion mobility technique (SelectIon+). I also used Waters Empowers 3 software, and realized it is not as user-friendly as that of Sciex.
