Can you please explain the genetics behind different fur pigmentations on the sides of canine body?

I assume that the color changes between two sides of canine body is caused by transposition on the gene segments that responsible from for fur pigmentation. But I thought it is possible to caused by codominance of parental pigmentation. I had a literature review but I couldn’t find any paper on different fur pigmentation on sides of body. Thank you.
