Hi, is there an easy way to do blood typing using fixed blood cells?
I'm looking for simple procedures that can be used to identify blood groups using either whole blood stored in CellSave tubes or fixed blood cells immobilized on slides.

First: I don't know the answer and have no literature for that question.
In theory I guess it should be possible, since formaldehyd links proteins/amino acids and AB0 blood groups are based on glyco-structures.
For an immunofluorescence test on slides, all you need is an blood group specific antibody and a labelled secondary antibody.
If I want to see stained erythrocytes, I would prefer a chromogenic IHC because of their autofluorescence. And because of their content of endogenous peroxidase, I would prefer a detection with alkaline phosphatase.
Antibodies against Blood Group A Antigen or Blood Group B Antigen with IHC-application are available. Maybe a Cytospin-preparation onto an adhesive-slide will immobilizise the cells on the slide-surface in a way, that they are not lost during the procedure. Antibodies applicable on formalin-fixed antigens usually need an antigen-retrieval step.
I believe it is possible. But a trial with control samples will be great. There is a possibility of formaldehyde interfering with antigenes on the surface of red blood cells
No, the formalin treated RBCs are very rigid. you will be able to do assays such as FACS to ID surface receptors but they are not flexible enough to agglutinate.
