i want to ask that, can 1,4-dioxane forms the complex with metal ion? when we use 1,4-dioxane as a solvent for ligand, my organic ligand is soluble in DMF,DMSO and 1,4-dioxane but we cant use DMF and DMSO because it forms complexes with metal
If you are concerned about the polarity of the solvents, all of those solvents you mentioned are very polar. And if you are looking for non-polar solvents - hexane, heptane or cyclopentane are some of the non-polar solvents.
A list of solvents attached for you to decide which solvents that can be used based on their dielectric constants (increasing order of polarity).
The possible formation 1,4-dioxanate complexes with some metal(II) ions and halides may have to be considered at particularly favourable conditions: Cf. J. H. Smith, T. B. Brill, "Donor induced vibrational effects in mercury(II) halide complexes and some metal(II) halide-1,4-dioxanate stability correlations", Inorganica Chimica Acta, Vol. 18, 1976, pp. 225–229.
