It depends on what your trying to culture. For example, monocytes culture would be fine. However, EDTA is a chemical and can be inhibitory. Typically, heparin is preferred as the primary anticoagulant if culture is the end goal.
I agree with Daniel, the heparin is better for culture, unless you don't need to analyse your cells using RT-PCR, then the heparin may interfere with the PCR reaction.
