I performed an experiment involving two different treatments, and used both a negative and positive control. Every sample, including the controls was done in replicates. The experiment was repeated 4 times.
At the time, it was intended for both treatments to be published in a single paper, but now we're considering publishing the two separate treatments in separate papers.
Can the same controls be shared across the two different treatment results, or will I need to perform these experiments again, or possibly just one of the experiments?
So far my idea, you need not to repeat the experiment again. You can publish two papers with same controls. I have published such papers. But my advice is to publish two papers in two separate journals.
