We need to observe a compound (curcumin) in the footpad of a mouse. Solvents used for histopathology are formaldehyde and nitric acid. In addition, we have to decalcify the bone in order to do the analysis. Is there any chance that the test compound (a depot of curcumin) may be degraded or dissolved of the tissue being exposed to organic solvents? The idea is to observe where the substance remains without being affected by the treatment of the sample.
