This depends entirely on your research question/goals.
SNP produces NO itself, if applied correctly, so you would be applying NO exogenously. SNP has many toxic side-effects and its NO release depend also on many factors (such as light and temperature).
From your question I derive you want to let your bacteria to produce extra NO itself, you would have to know which enzymes are responsible for its production. I work with plants, but a quick search show that also in bacteria Nitrite reductase (NiR) and NR are responsible for NO production from nitrite and nitrate respectively. You could try to add nitrite/nitrate, which would increase NO production temporarily (but also induce many other processes).
