I saw that It has been used once to perform the chemical digestion of the extracellular matrix components. I was wondering that can it be used as a chaotropic agent (alternative to urea/guanidin etc.) to improve hydrophobic proteins solubility ?
Amino acid L-Arginine is used to improve protein solubility. There is some literature about this. Typically arginine is used in the buffers at a concentration of 50 to 100 millimolar. Apparently it suppresses aggregation of proteins and so inhibits protein precipitation.
