We know that cortisol induces vasoconstriction which leads to increase in blood pressure. But can this relationship be bidirectional such that elevated blood pressure happens prior to cortisol release? Or can blood pressure be increased independent of the cortisol pathway? There seems to be other physiological processes which can contribute to blood pressure increase but can they subsequently involve additional cortisol release?
