I am trying to grow Colletotrichum truncatum in a synthetic media, where oleic acid as the sole carbon source.

Dung Agar can be used for this purpose.
- The medium is used to grow dung fungi because of the fatty acids in dung.
- Approx 3 pellets of fresh rabbit dung or equivalent is placed in 100ml water and blended. 2% agar is added, the mixture autoclaved and plates poured.
Thank you Sandip, but I need a media without any carbon source other than oleic acid (as complete carbon source). Dung Agar composition i couldn't find. And C. truncatum is a plant pathogen.
Most media with hydrophobic carbon sources are either for the detection of lipase activity or for testing biodegradation.
In the first case, the detection is often based on a reaction between the fatty acid released and e.g. Ca, which precipitates. So, no suitable here.
In the second case, there are many media. Some of them increase the bioavailability of the carbon source by adding surfactants (see the paper linked), others by emulsifying with a blender (e.g. atlas oil agar). And some of them, don't, so they just add the source as it (sterile) or like in the oil-agar medium, by adsorbing the lipophylic carbon source to an inert material, e.g. silica gel, by evaporating a solution of the C-source in a volatile solvent, e.g. diethyl ether, over the inert material and then adding the resulting powder to the medium (oil agar medium).
In general, any minimal mineral medium should be fine, although it may depend on specific physiological requirements of your fungus.
