One small enough to fit in the hood and also reasonably priced with good zoom so you can visualise the edges of colonies. We've been looking at a few and just can't seem to find one that has good enough optics (contrast) as well as the required zoom.

EVOS XL fits inside the hood without blocking the air flow of the hood. Manual work is more ergonomic and imaging is excellent.

I am actually looking for a microscope to pick ipsc colonies and I have a demo of EVOS XL CORE for one week in my lab. I found that the phase contrast at 4x is not very good with their objectives (the one at 10x however is excellent but not very usefull to pick colonies). Did you changed the objective or do you work with the original one?
