I needed to check pH during a lengthy titration, so I kept the pH probe dipped in the solution for several hours. Several colleagues have commented that it will damage the pH probe. But all I could find on the internet is that pH probe should not be kept in deionized water, but nothing for solutions. Is it really a thing that pH probe should not be constantly kept in a solution?
Recommend solution 3 M KCl for keeping pH electrode. If you continuously keep in other solution it effects on pH probe.

You should note that pH electrodes age steadily even when stored in a 3M KCl electrolyte and can have a lifespan of up to three years. A typical aging symptom is a slowed response time. Certain conditions can shorten the lifetime of the electrode, e.g. measurements at high temperatures or of solutions from which polymers or proteins can be deposited on the membrane.
Under normal circumstances, I believe that even measurements over several hours will remain without negative consequences. Even electrodes that have dried out can often be regenerated.

A concern I would have is that the calibration might drift over several hours. It might be a good idea to recalibrate the electrode once in a while. Otherwise, as long as the solution does not contain any substance that could damage the electrode, it should be OK.
