I wanna ask if i can store the remaining part of 10% brain homogenate at -80 centigrade for later use? I had bit extra homogenate so i wondered if i can use it for later use? Homogenate is made in PBS.(Calcium and Magnisium free).
You can indeed. There should be no problem or perceptible reduction in infectivity. Brain homogenates we have kept at -80C for more than 5 years are fine (even 1% will be fine). You should however consider vortexing before removing an aliquot when you decide to work with it again. Regards. Emmanuel.
As Emmanuel mentioned, it won't be any problem. My suggestion is to make aliquots of your brain homogenates. Warming/Freezing cycles will affect the quality of your protein.
thanks claudia its the homogenate that will be injected next time to infect animals so i dont think aliquotes will be required...i mean all will be used once...
