Dear colleagues,
I received different pieces of lab equipment (mainly pestils and alike) out of CTFE and would like to reuse the same pestils without autoclaving them every time. I do not have any experience with CTFe and the company rep could not give me an answer either.
What would be the best way to chemically clean the pestil tips made out of CTFE and avoid DNA contamination for the next samples?

To get rid of DNA, there are several ways to achieve this. UV, 254 nm, is very effective, even in short times (minutes). Oxidizing situations (H2O2, Chlorine-bleach ) can also destroy DNA.I can not comment on their compatiblity with CTFE. Do you have a way to test for cross contamination? (PCR protocol for instance?) thanks for your reply! I was uncertain about the durability of CTFE towards oxidzing chemicals. Fortunately the distributor finally mailed me and according to him CTFE is stable against alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons, acids and bases. So it will likely be bleach for me.
