It is written by an anonymous academician who has been subjected to an unethical practice by a hot-shot professor in a very large research group with lots of funding: the professor forces his/her name to be put on every paper that the academician publishes.
I realise that it may be impossible to tell personal stories, but a general discussion on the topic could be worth while.
Fortunately, I have not faced any unethical behaviour from anybody so far. My professor and research supervisor is a very good academician who has good ideals, values and ethics. All my co-authors are also like that. No one has compelled me to include his or her name in my articles.
But I know many examples of such incidences. There are many senior professors in universities who insist to include their names in the articles of research scholars, even without contributing anything to those articles. I have heard some instances that certain supervisors remove original authors of some research articles from the author lists in order to include some other people they like. Research scholars may not be able to question these types of unethical behaviours as they need the help of these people to complete their research.
Junior scientists are never going to answer this freely professor due to the reason the academician in the article kept him/her anonymous.
That is completely understandable, Arafat. But a general discussion about the practice might be possible.
