Science publishing is very lucrative. These days, many of us are also faced with the necessity to publish in open-access journals, and have to seek special grants in order to be able to pay their fees.
Corollated with this development is the development of predatory open-access journals. There are many stories told about predatory journals, and their practices. Here is, by the way, a list of at least some of them:

Have you been harassed by one such publisher, and what has been your experience?
While this is not a case of a journal being predatory, it is just as bad: there are journals wherein the editors regularly publish their own papers, even though there clearly are alternative journals to choose from, and of an at least as high rank as the one in question. While it is not made clear that the handling of those papers need to be extremely cautious in order to not be fraudulent, I suspect that some of those have NOT been handled correctly.
