I saw this phrase a lot many years ago, and now at RG I witness again the phrase "the model and its algorithm". It always refers to the notion that for every model there is a unique methodology to be used for its solution. I was often subjected to that phrase during in my PhD studies, and here at RG 25 or so years later I witness it yet again, every now and then. Let's agree first that the phrase is badly informed: it is not the case that for every optimization model there is one unique methodology for it. But where does it come from?
