Having wasted $800 on an ELISA kit from Novatein Biosciences, which was apparently validated for use with mouse serum, I have found a few more mouse-specific VDBP/GC ELISAs available. However, none (as far as I can see) have actually been used in a publication. Can anyone recommend a mouse-specific VDBP/GC ELISA or is semi-quantitative western blot the way forward?

for an ELISA "not working", there may be many reasons, like e.g. a defective reagent, wrong (i.e. non validated) samples, wrong (different from validation) sample preparation, other user failures etc etc. Did you actually get a standard curve with the included samples?
A price of 800 bucks for a (one!) plate should include free and immediate assistance in troubleshooting, I feel. Have you contacted the company and asked them for help?

Oh yes, have been in contact many times with the supplier they came up with nothing of use and have now refused to answer any of my emails.
Thanks for the PDF Vakamullu, but unfortunately that is for human GC and in my experience human GC kits do not cross-react with the mouse protein - only ~77% sequence identity.
If you should need some more than 1 plate of this test, actually, if you have the sequence of your target protein, know about possible posttranslational modifications, can spend about 1000US$ for 2 peptide antibodies, and can wait for a few month until it is available (and have 2-4 weeks hands-on time for development), just make your own. The most critical part might be obtaining appropriate standards.
