Hello,

I have done a bit of research to see if there are any cells floating about in the colon (i.e. the lumen part) and cannot find anything that suggests there is, and would like to check if this is in fact true?

My understanding is that the colon from the inside -out is basically comprised of the lumen where the food is processed to faeces, surrounding that is a mucous layer and then the epithelial layer. So the epithelial layer and cells are therefore protected by the mucous layer.

Hence, the lumen composition is solely faecal matter and bacteria but not cells?

Thank you:)
