Pharmacogenetics biomarkers (such as CYP2D6, CYP2C19, TPMT) are suggested to be used before prescribing and deciding about the dosage of drugs, especially for cancer chemotheraphy. I was wondering if this is followed routinely for every patient. Is this integrated into the health insurance system ? specifically in which countries around the world?
Pharmacogenomics is getting massive in volume with so many new molecular bio markers from SNPs, mutations, miRNA, methylation station (epigenomome) and may be so many other studies. Though clonogenic assays are time consuming but i guess your question is specific.
I believe that such markers should at least be done in patients like chronic diseases, cancers or patients with metabolic diseases.
Rather best would be to develop a disease specific biomarker panel like microarray be made .
