Anyone has done /has seen an Actor-Partner Interdependence Model analysis where predictors are categorical? If yes, please share the reference or give advice for the practical part: how to do it in AMOS or Mplus, eventually in SPSS?
Shortly on my data: heterosexual couples, each of the partners has a group membership variable (1 to 4, representing four discrete, not linearly arranged pesonal goal orientation categories, e.g., oriented toward relationship, toward health, etc.). Outcomes are continous: relationship satisfaction scores of the partners.
Tamás, using categorical variables in an APIM is the same as using categorical variables in multiple regression. One option is to use dummy coded variables as predictors, but other coding procedures exist.

I knew about the possibility of using dummy coded categorical variables for regression analyses but was unsure whether the same might apply for SEM and APIM as well.
Still, if there is any example where the exact predictors are categorical in APIM, I would welcome it a lot.
