There is a long list of tools on wikipedia but I don't know which could be better for this purpose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_analysis_software).
It is depending of what is that you want with the node?????? What kind of attributes do you want to measure???????...... I have just have worked with Pajek and UCINET
Pajek is a freeware for non commercial use, this software has an interesting analytical capabilities, and can be used to identify structural holes and the data can be sent directly to R, to calculate additional statistics. You could download at: http://es.download.cnet.com/Pajek/3000-2076_4-10662544.html
And UCINET is a shareware, which has strong matrix analysis routines, such as matrix algebra and multivariate statistics..... You could download at: http://es.download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=UCINET&searchtype=downloads
Thank you. We try to show the spatial closeness of productive sectors using Self Organizing Maps. Some sectors locate together but others tend to localize in different places. We have found the way to show the atraction between sectors but don't the way to show the repulsion. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/236149203_Spatial_distribution_of_economic_activities_an_empirical_approach_usingself-organizing_maps?ev=prf_pub

Consider taking a look at the work of J. Labianca. He has studied negative ties extensively using the same software as used for 'positive ties' (i.e. UCINET is perhaps the most commonly used software)
