Hey,

During my second semester in UNSW, I have studied CHEN6706 Advanced transport phenomena. In the module, we also study how to use COMSOL Multiphysics V4.3b or a, I think. I have some basic skills in doing the simulations like making a 2D model; I have never done 3D model. I know how to add boundary conditions, all those easy stuff. Now I am doing Thesis B, and I am doing a COMSOL simulation on the formation of an ultrasonic standing wave field that is used to separate suspended particles. My simulation is very similar to the journal article "Multiphysics modeling of the separation of suspended particles via frequency ramping of ultrasonic standing waves". One of the authors who made this article is my supervisor, Francisco J. Trujillo.

Anyways, now that I am doing the simulation. I am facing a lot of problems. It is much more advanced than what I did during my second semester (Since it is Thesis B). I just jump and do things and look at the results, and when I look at all the bright colors, I think the results good, but it is not! I also do not understand things about COMSOL like what does the solver do? What does fully coupled or segregated group do? Which one is better? Why am I getting this error? How do I solve this error? Why is my simulation slow? A lot of problems..

All in all, here is my question, any tips for me so I would understand the simulation better? What should I read? Or anything? I think you have experienced the same thing as I have, and I would like to give me advice that would make you expertise in doing COMSOL Multiphysics.

Regards,

Badri
