I worked with mouse in the past (not so long ago), bile duct-ligated mouse model. Personally, I used Lincomycin (Vemedim, Vietnam), intramuscular injection at 20 mg/kg x 2 doses/day given for 3 days to prevent post-surgery infections, including infections in the abdominal cavity. This experience was gained after several try-and-error and consulting from a vet doctor from University of Agriculture and Forestry. It worked well for me. May you want give it a try. Best wishes!!

Huy Quang Do Thank you for your suggestion, but I wonder why you choose this antibiotics? Because in human we use antibiotics in beta lactam or quinolon group. Is there any special reason for choosing lincomycin?

Thank you for your helpful information. As mentioned above, I used lincomycin for Mouse surgeries (not for human), which at some extend is similar to that you need for your present experiments. Anyway, I could not find any different antibiotics specifically for mice back then, but lincomycin is indicated for animals such as pets and cattles :) Maybe I'm understanding your request not correctly, am I?

@huy, I just ask whether you found that lincomycin is specific for abdominal surgery. Since my experiment will be on muscle so I just want to see how you chose this antibiotic, is it depends on the organism or not

I think Broad spectrum antibiotic such as "Tazobactum + Pipercillin" will be appropriate for your experiment. This consists of two antibiotics which will help to protect all Gram Positive and Gram Negative bacterial infection.
