I’m currently working my way around a subject that requires more insight into polyurethane.

I wanted to know if there‘s any link between the smell (odor) of a polyurethane product (such as toys) and its toxicity.

Most toys as I know, if made by polyurethane, are cured using a chemical induced curing agent, either benzen, isocyanate or others. However, I haven’t find any researchs or study/ journal about the link between these curing agent and its (possible) toxicity pre and post curing.

I’m very curious to know if the smell that’s coming off a polyurethane toys is toxic or not, and if yes, what might have caused that smell?

i’d appreciate any answer or links to the research that might answer my questions. Thank you
