Gurbel et al (2005) suggest that inhibiton of platelet aggreagation is "independent of GPIIb/IIIa or P-selectin expressions". What is thought to be the mechanism and how long does the effect last?
As for as alteplase is concerned it is a tissue plasminogen activator specific for fibrin bound plasminogen that results in lysis (Breakdown) of the clot through the hydrolysis of fibrin that is the core mechanism of action . It does not affect the mentioned GPIIb /IIIa receptors for this action. Platelet aggregation is not directly inhibited by these agent but indirectly
