We expressed an Ig-like domain, predicted size ~15 kDa, in E. coli. Standard expression vector, lac promoter, N-term 6His tag. Cell extracts reveal a product of ~25 kDa; with some optimisation, a less intense band of the expected size also appears. Both come up in anti-his blot, both purify using IMAC. Plasmid has been sequenced to confirm sequence. There's no obvious additional upstream start or downstream stop to extend the polypeptide - and bigger product doesn't appear with other expressed genes in the same vector and strain. Re-transformation of plasmid doesn't help.

Any suggestions on what the larger product could be?
