What is the purpose of lignin derivatization with acetic anhydride/pyridine (1/1, v/v) before Gel Permeation Chromatography?
Hello Isik,
the derivatization with acetic anhydride serves to increase the water solubility of lignins. Lignins are not known to be readily soluble in water. You can also have a look here. Unfortunately the dissertation is only written in German.

Thank you very much Markus. I have German, I guess I can understand.
To solve the solubility issue.
Thank you very much Ramandeep.
