well basically, the cost-effectivity of FDM 3D printers are simply one of the most important reason of selecting FDM over SLA. Fused deposition modeling is more common in large and not really complicated geometries otherwise, the Stereolithography model is capable of more complicated shapes which makes it much more expensive. The other factor is troubleshooting and repairing. Actually, the FDM mechanism is simply by extruding filament which basically works with extruder and hot ends which are not too expensive. But SLA works with photocuring principle and laser which is pretty more expensive for repairing.

I want to add something regarding the toxicity: After printing, cleaning and post curing of a part manufactured from resin using SLA, there are in most cases still residual photoinitiators and/or radicals, which are toxic to living cells.
