Why sometimes control not showing colour during experiment?

i am doing metal chelation assay for that i used iron (II) Chloride tetrahydrate and ferrozine.

i take 0.1 ml iron (II) chloride tetrahydrate in test tube and added 0.2ml ferrozine as a control and make up volume upto 4 ml with the addition of methanol but control not showing colour. what is the reason behind it.
